Q3: Why my browser tells me that I don't have authority to use the proxy server?
A3: For roaming connection, there is no proxy service. Remember to disable proxy setting in your web browser. Then you can surf the net without any problems.
Q4: My modem doesn't dial even though I am sure that the phone line is properly connected from the wall jack to my modem. The message on my screen says something about "No dial tone", why?
A4: There are two major reasons:
The jack of your phone cable is not suitable for modem connection. Buy a new phone cable that is suitable. Most phone cables suitable for fax machines will work with modems.
Some phone systems, especially those at hotels, will give a voice signal to indicate that the modems don't recognise as a dialling tone. Solution:
For Windows 95 / Windows 98 / Windows NT 4.0:
Try to disable Wait for a dial tone before dialling.
Go to My Computer => Dial-up networking.
Click the roaming connection with right mouse button.
Select Properties, Click Configure button.
Select Connection tab.
Clear the box Wait for dial tone before dialling.
Click OK and OK again.
Done!
Q5: Why am I disconnected from the server shortly after dialling?
A5: There are three major causes:
Check if your login_id has been changed to your e-mail address. The correct login_id for roaming is always your e-mail address without the domain.
A trick like adding a comma after the phone number may fix this problem.
Your modem didn't initialize well. Try changing the Modem Init string to fix the problem.
Q6: Will I have 28.8 or even 33.6 connection speed with Internet roaming?
A6: Not all access points provide this high speed connection. Even if the modem of our access points provide this modem speed, the local phone system and the hotel PABX system will degrade the connection speed in many cases.
